2 years

My how time flies.

As I was waiting for the release of my first solo book, Oh Scrap, I found myself a bit sentimental.

2 years ago I missed quilt market. Before that I had been to 56 consecutive quilt markets. 38 with Moda Fabrics and 18 as the buyer for the Olde Craft Store in Carrollton, Texas.

March 3rd, 2016, I spent the night with my new granddaughter to let the new parents get some rest. The next morning, a fluke thing happened, I suffered a seizure. The world went spinning and I don’t remember much about that day except for the stories. During the hospital stay they discovered a subdural hematoma. Not sure which came first the seizure or the hematoma? I also apparently hit a paramedic and also suffered from a torn rotator-right shoulder.

After a week in the hospital, I returned home. A week later back to the ER with massive headaches and pressure. A CT scan showed that the Hematoma had gotten bigger, resulting in a right craniotomy on March 16th.

Brain surgery – Egads!!

So during 3 months at home with constant care from family and friends, I jokingly called myself Lissa 2.0.  After all, I am a blonde with brain surgery, so insert jokes here….

While I had previously been given the invitation to write a book for Martingale Publishing, I tackled this opportunity as Lissa 2.0.

Tomorrow, March 15th, almost exactly 2 years to the day of my brain surgery I will be having a blog hop to celebrate the debut of my book, Oh Scrap.

God held your hand through it all when your friends couldn’t be there. Lots of prayers were answered too.
Wishing you many more grandchildren, great-grandchildren and hugs filled with love from loved ones. You’re in my thoughts often.
Congratulations on the first of many books.

    Hugs

Congratulations on two years of good health and to many, many more! I’m a 12 year breast cancer survivor, before that I never even thought of my health. Amazing how things change on a dime. I’m so excited to hear about your book. I’d like to wish you a Happy and Healthy 2nd Anniversary tomorrow and Congratulations on your new 1st book! ;-> Toni Anne

    Dear Lissa,

I’m so sorry to hear that you went through all this – missed you but I never knew why. May I wish you lots of happiness, a good health and pleasure in the Lissa 2.0 version. The quilting world will definately be very happy you’re back.

    Love from the Netherlands.

Lissa, you are an inspiration in so many ways! And such a lovely person as Lissa 1.0 AND Lissa 2.0—feel so lucky to know you. Congratulations! Can’t wait to see your book.

I have many of your quilt designs on my to-do list. Now you have a book? How am I going to find the time to make all of these quilts?

But seriously, congratulations! I’m very happy that you are well and writing more patterns. I’ll try to keep up.

Of the Moda precuts I prefer the fat quarters. 10 inch squares are my second favorite. 2.5 inch strips are pretty limiting unless the pattern is specifically written for them. Charm squares don’t make a very large quilt. I prefer to make bed size quilts. Love most of the Moda collections!!
