Blogger Girls Month 6 BOM

It is that time again for the Blogger Girls’ Block of the Month. The final month of free block patterns includes month 6 blocks.
Next month we will be showing the final quilt and the layout directions.

Amazing how different these two blocks are using the same pattern. Can you spot the difference in how the templates were used?
Clue: top corner
Once you spot the difference you will also spot my mistake! I didn’t even notice it until just now! I guess it happens to all of us.

Some of the other blocks.

Be sure and stop by all the blogs for the Block of the Month.

Blogger Girls B.O.M year 2

Did you make any New Year’s Resolutions?
I don’t know if you can consider mine resolutions but I have
agreed to several projects throughout 2014 which are commitments. Commitments, now that is
a word that is just as powerful as resolutions, right?
You may remember last year when Monique Dillard of Open Gate Quilts
hosted a Blogger Girls Block of the Month.
a finished quilt from last year
Well, today is January 1st so it is time once again  to start the year off
 with a bang
and another quilt along.
my first block from year 1
This year the blocks are a dreamy 6 inches.
For the next 6 months you will be making 2 of each of the 6 designs.
Your 2 blocks will look completely different due to color and fabric placement.
I have fallen in love with the newest group from Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts.
It is called Snowbird. Yes, there are print and batiks.

These fabrics will not be in the stores until later this year so you are
getting a sneak peek at them here.

At 6″ these blocks are so darn cute.

Join us on the first of each month for more cuteness and 6″ blocks.

I hope each of you have a blessed and safe 2014.

Blogger Girls Month 5

I can’t believe it has been a month since my last post.
Boo Hiss- I will make myself stand in the corner!
I guess I have been in a funk.
Thank you to Monique because being a part of the
Blogger Girl’s Quilt Along
has made me have to hop on to my blog, hopefully ending the funk.

As you know from last month I had added some batiks.
Trying to break out of my predictable shell so I tried with several
color options for block 5. Disregard the digital lines.

Month 5 is my favorite block
You all know that I love polka dots so I couldn’t help but throw in this brown and green polka dot from Paint Box by Laundry Basket. I love how strong and graphic 2 fabrics make this block.
I wanted to see what this block would look like as a positive/negative colorway. I did change the center block out so the block is now 4 sawtooth stars.
Changing 1 fabric color completely changes the block.
And finally,

I think my favorite of the 3 blocks. A scrappy block made

with a combination of prints and batiks.

Stop by and see the color options at the other blogger girls.

I am super excited to be a part of a big event starting January 1st, 2013. Monique Dillard from Open Gate is doing her first ever online Block of the Month.

Instead of BOM (block of the month)

Each of us will be making the same block each month. We are all using different fabrics so this will really give you lots of color choices. There will be 6 blocks posted and you can make the
6 block quilt or make 2 of each block and make the 12 block quilt. There will also be a set of instructions with the finishing options to make either size quilt.
The instructions will be on Monique’s blog until July 2013.
As soon as you have packed away all the Christmas goodies, get ready, pick your favorite signature fabric for borders and stay tuned for yardages posted soon.
