Guess What?

GIVEAWAY CLOSED !!

I am so very excited to announce my new book coming February 2021, Scrap School. 9 designers have joined me by sharing one of their scrap quilts along with tips on color, fabric placement and more. Each quilt also has a color option  to inspire how you can use your scraps or fabric collections to personalize the quilts for your style.

Scrap School

Lisa Bongean, Gudrun Erla, Susan Ache, Amanda Jean Nyberg, Amy Smart, Sherri McConnell, Sarah Huechteman, Kim Diehl and Connie & Mary of Country Threads have joined me as “PROFESSORS” at Scrap School.

I have included link to the professors instagram accounts above, so be sure and follow each of them for more information as we get closer to the book launch. The book is available for preorder from your favorite quilt store or book dealer now, so treat yourself.

Color Bars

I love putting together color bars to play with color and pattern before starting a quilt. Join me as I share more of this process.

February seems like a very long time from now, so to wet your appetite for scrap books, I am going to have a few giveaways and events throughout the rest of the year. I am starting off with a copy of Sisterhood of Scraps.

To win a copy of Sisterhood of Scraps and some other goodies thrown in, please leave a comment and tell me your 2 favorite colors to use in a quilt. I am also giving away a Sisterhood of Scraps on my instagram so you have 2 chances to win.

Enjoy and thank you so much for following along,

-Modalissa

I hate pink in general but for some reason I like pink and green quilts. Also, pinks and oranges in a scrappy quilt with bits of white.

Love red and creams and blue and creams! Its so hard for me to choose fabrics, I’ve always admired your scrap quilts! I’m excited for your new book, thank you!!!

  2. Melanie says:

Loved your first book…. hard to beat a red and white quilt. So many holidays… do many seasons candy canes to geraniums

  3. Andrea Hickman says:

I am drawn toward greens and blues. Almost every quilt contains one or both of those colors. Looking forward to your new book.

  4. TJ says:

I am drawn to the strangest shades of green and brown, throw in a little mustard and teal and I’m happy as can be! Strange I know…
    I can’t wait until February 🙂

I have always, and continue to this day, love blue and yellow quilts. They make my heart sing and soothe my soul. Those colors will never go “out of style” in my mind.

Country Threads still has a blog. Mary keeps us up to date on farm life, her beautiful plants and of course her quilts. Just look for “Country Threads”.

  6. Becky Rico says:

Apparently I’m drawn to blues and greens. It seems every quilt I make have them and those are the largest section in my stash. I enjoyed Oh, Scrap so much. I don’t have Sisterhood yet and look forward to this one with this star studded lineup.

  7. Jo Frey says:

I love using navy and pink – not always in the same quilt, but usually one of the two show up in most quilts I make lately.

  8. Margaret says:

At this time of year, I am drawn to autumn colors – truthfully,I think those are my favorite colors any time of year. I know it’s more than 2 colors, but I really like reds, oranges, rust, nutmeg brown, a little green, a little gold and maybe a little bit of purple. I’m eager to see your book!

  9. Karen N says:

Blue and off white…..does off white count as a color? Throw in red if it doesn’t! You can never go wrong with that combination. Although, some of the corals and grays that are out now and coming out soon are so beautiful together. So excited for February to get here!! =:)

  10. H Osborn says:

I LOVE YELLOW!! (MUST SHOUT THAT IN ALL CAPS!) Mix it with almost every color, and I am happy! Not so cool with black and yellow…love bumblebees in my garden, not in my quilt. Following the colorations of daffodils makes me happiest!!

  11. Kathleen chenoweth says:

Yippee! Another beautiful book I always love red and blue fabrics. But do i have to pick just 2?!!

    Love a fun giveaway!

  12. Susan Gray says:

I love blues and use a lot of back. I love how black makes my colors pop! Sisterhood of Scraps looks wonderful. I just love scrap quilts!

  13. JOANN ONEILL says:

I could never narrow it down to just 2 colors. Some days I want the deep earthy traditional colors, the next brights. Variety is the spice of quilting, right?

  14. Little Quiltsong says:

Love my yellow’s and blue’s – maybe not always together in a quilt, but love including the one or other into each if possible.

  15. Lynda Plamann says:

My favorite colors for quilts range from chartreuse to navy, so I will say green and blue. Looking forward to the new book!

  16. Colleen C. says:

Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your great books! My heart is truly in scrappy quilts. But pinks and greens are my favorite colors so they are sure to include those.

  17. Carol says:

Some shade of red along with some shade of blue seem to be my 2 favorites. Looking forward to this new book! Great designer picks!
