On A Roll

Moda Jelly Rolls have been around since 2008 and I can’t believe how many wonderful projects, tools, notions, patterns, and books have been created based on the 2 1/2″ strip. I will never forget the first time I used a jelly roll. After working a full day at the greatest job ever, I went home, opened a jelly roll and started sewing. So theraoutic!

The Moda All-Stars have done it again, each quilt is based on a jelly roll. Some of the quilts have additional fabrics added, some of the quilts are appliqued. There is something for everyone, 16 quilts all in all shapes and sizes sure to inspire.

Of course I’d like to make all the quilts but the one that I most want to do now is Sweet Butterfly. I am looking for a special pattern for special girl and this looks perfect.

It’s a toss up between Apricot Jelly and Not Too Sweet! Actually that’s one of the reasons I like apricot jelly, it’s not too sweet. (I crack myself up) thanks for fun give away Lissa.

I love them all but the rooster is so darling. That is the one I would start with for my kitchen table, or dining room table, or for over the couch, or patio table or anywhere I felt it should go for the day.

  2. Jane Cleveland says:

All of them. I want to make all of them! Every time you guys come out with one of these books I feel the same way !! Keep up the good work. You keep us all inspired!!

  3. Mary Andra says:

Schools on Wheels is a wonderful charity to support.
You know how much I love appliqué so Rule Roost was my first choice. Then I saw Maisy Daisies. But then I saw Parfait. Thinking I need to start over. Do I really need to pick only one quilt to make. LOL
They are all fabulous. Congratulations on another winning Jelly Roll book.

  4. Linda Dunton says:

This is a book I really want to purchase!!! I love all of these quilts, when I find a book with that many quilts that I love I have to buy it. Would love to know where I can get it??!!!

  5. Marcella says:

I love the American Jane quilt – her patterns are always so good! But it’s hard to pass up those cute churn dash blocks in Sherri McConnell’s quilt. Guess it’s a good thing I have a stack of jelly rolls in a drawer.

  6. T Holzer says:

The quilts are all so nice! But I love “Whats the Commotion” and “On the Flipside”. I love how jelly rolls are such a timesaver! Thanks for this chance, Lissa.

  7. Diana Jacobson says:

I see several quilts is like to make. It’s really hard to choose just one. Parfait by Sherry McConnell is one. And One Roll Wonder by Me and My Sister is another.

I’d love to do, Rule Roost. Applique is my new love. It’s lots of fun for me. I enjoy doing applique on critters, trees, flowers, etc.: Anything natural and beautiful.

  11. Margaret says:

Oh my goodness, so many of these quilts are tempting! I believe that I’d start with Ann Sutton’s Rule Roost, closely followed by Fig Tree’s Maisy Diaisies (love that name). I think next I’d make Not Too Sweet by American Jane and Apricot Jelly by Corey Yoder. These designers are so talented! (Did I just plan my summer sewing?)

  12. Lynn M says:

Oh I would have to start with Maisy Daisies. We had a Maisy in our lives. She was rescued from the local shelter.

  13. Mary Ann Scanlon says:

It’s a toss up between Apricot Jelly and Not Too Sweet! Actually that’s one of the reasons I like apricot jelly, it’s not too sweet. (I crack myself up) thanks for fun give away Lissa.

  14. Carol Nelms says:

I would start with Parfait, but have several jelly rolls and could make lots of quilts. It is hard to find good jelly roll patterns. Thanks

  15. Caryl Brix says:

I have been on a ‘roll’ with pineapple quilts and Zen Chic so I would begin with that combo. But I do love them all…..could do them all!!! Thanks so much for sharing your time and talents!

  16. Karen N. says:

Apricot Jelly and Square Dance would be at the top of the list!! Don’t you just love the name “Apricot Jelly”?? =:)

  17. Patty Rainwater says:

Hi Lissa, so great finding you on Instagram. Love seeing how your family has grown and all your beautiful quilts!

  18. Susan Oakes says:

Many of the projects are appealing to me, and I would make Betsy Chutchian’s mountain quilt first — it is so classic and vintage looking, which makes my heart sing!

  19. Elaine Schoof says:

Oh, I love so many of them but the first one I would make is maisy daisies. With 3 girls, this quilt would find a home on one of their beds.

  20. Karen S says:

Maisie’s daisies looks like fun. But so does square dance, oh and mountain climbing and apricot jam … they’re all great!

  21. Marie Eddins says:

Apricot jelly, Rule Roost, and Parfait are the ones I’d start with. Darling quilts made with the ever fun jelly roll! Thanks for the chance!

  22. Vicky says:

Finally, a book to work the patterns one by one, until all of those pesky strips are put to good use!
I’d start with #1 in the book, and work my way through. They’re all winners. Hope I am too.

  23. Carol Nichols says:

I do have a blue and white jelly roll that I am thinking about using so really like On the Flip Side right now. But they are all delightful!

  24. JennyM says:

Mountain Climbing, What’s the Commotion and Maisy Daisy caught my eye, plus others! Great looking book. Thanks for sharing and for a chance at your giveaway.
