A Piece of Cake Blog Hop

Today is my day on the A PIECE OF CAKE blog hop. I have known Peta for quite a while and I am so proud and excited that she has shared her creativity with us.

Thank you, Peta for asking me to participate.

There are 14 different projects in this book and many of them are on my must make list, but

when it came time to

decide which quilt to make I knew I needed to make the LOVE quilt. I have perfect person for this quilt,  my {little} grandson, Jacob.

His mama loves the graphic fabrics from the  Savannah by Ginger line, so I dove right in.

This quilt was fun and easy to make.

A quick quilt just perfect for gift giving.

There are two sizes of the LOVE quilt. I went with the 45″ x 60″ version.  The quilt is big and chunky and has plenty of room so that I can add some big stitching with Aurifil threads.

Let me introduce you to one of my grandsons, Jacob Ryan Alexander, Cub for short.

He is a whooping 6 months old and is just as cuddly as he looks.

Jacob kindly modeled to show off his new quilt.  Don’t you just want to pinch those little legs?
He completely understands that it still needs to be quilted.

A few of the squares from the animal panel fit perfectly inside the big heart. Speaking of big hearts, isn’t this kid the cutest thing ever?

A little bit of stitching, a pieced binding and some quilting will finish off this project.

Thank you for stopping by and to celebrate I will be giving away a copy of this book. Leave a comment telling me what is your favorite Moda precut  and I will pick a winner at random, Thursday evening. I will post the winner here Friday morning.

I have mostly used charm packs, but have two Layer cakes that I’m not sure what to do with. This book would be a great way to use them. Thanks for the review and the great pictures.

That looks like a great book! My favorite precut is charm squares. I tend to use them more than any other precut. Thanks for inspiring us with your blog!

  3. Amy L says:

What a great quilt for your adorable grand baby! And my favorite precuts are charm packs. Especially for those fabrics that you just gotta have on a limited budget.

  4. Little Quiltsong says:

The smallest is a Layer Cake, otherwise Fat Quarter Bundles of the whole line. Cute quilt and an adorable grandson :)!

  5. JanetB says:

I love layer cakes. If I need charm squares, I can get 4x as many from a layer cake. I would love to have this book to help me bust my layer cake stash. Thanks for letting me enter.

  6. Terri says:

I have to say that fat quarter bundles are my favorite, but totally enjoy cake layers, jellyrolls and charm packs – so convenient to have the whole collection in one package. Thanks for sharing. Your grandson is adorable!

  7. Thelma says:

I’ve still got my fingers crossed for at least one grand baby, but until then I live vicariously through others, thanks so much for sharing Cub with me today. My favorite precut, hmmmm tough, I regularly use layer cakes, jelly rolls and fat quarter bundles. I think layer cakes are my favorite, but not by much, I’m a huge fan of precuts.

I thought it would be forever for a grand baby, but I am so happy I have 3 now. They all live close and are my joy!

  8. Karen Seitz says:

I like whatever precut I happen to be working with. Lately I’ve been using layer cakes, and I just realized over the weekend that I am actually making a dent in my collection!

  9. Sandy Allen says:

Right now my favorite precut is the layer cake. I tend to change my mind a lot on this subject, though, so if you ask me tomorrow it might be the charm squares or jelly roll that is my favorite!

  10. Ann in NC says:

I tend to pick up charm packs. If I really like the line, I will treat myself to a fat quarter bundle! Great fabrics used in your special quilt! Need to be on the lookout for the fabrics (and of course the book too)!

  11. Mom C says:

Love grandbabies, they are so cuddly and forgiving when I just have to hug them. I really like layer cakes and fat quarter bundles. Getting just a piece of the whole line is wonderful. Thanks.

  12. Lisa Marie says:

I like layer cakes. If I could afford it though, there are plenty of fabrics I’d like to buy by the bolt! Your quilt top is lovely and your model is adorable!
