Did my title peek your interest?
Today is my day for The Teacher’s Pet
Strip-Smart Quilts Book Blog Tour
I have known Kathy for many years. She holds a special place in my heart for many reasons.
One is that she is Cajun and talks funnier than I do.
My husband
thinks he is Cajun
due to the time he spent with an
X-girlfriend that was Cajun but that is another story.
Every time I talk to Kathy she makes me think of my time spent crabbing, making Gumbo
(minus the okra) and Boudin. Kathy has included her recipe for Grits in the book which is
tame compared to the other things she could
be cooking up?

Yesterday you visited Elizabeth at Late Bloomers. We both chose the same quilt from the book. I would say great minds think alike. Right, Elizabeth?!
Well Kathy has cooked up some delightful patterns in her new book using 2 1/2 strips or
yardages cut into strips.
When Kathy asked me to be included in this Hop, I quickly agreed. I was to pick out my favorite quilt and tell why. Now rremember I am a middle child, so I had a hard time deciding on my “Favorite”.
I like them all.
I studied and studied. I couldn’t decide if I liked the quilt design or the fabrics used in the quilt the best.
Each of the fabrics Kathy choose for the quilts were perfect. I tried to choose something different than what she had pictured which was even a tougher task.
Hometown in stores August, Ruby in stores September |
I choose a jelly roll from Sweetwater called Hometown. I mixed it with a teeny tiny grey white polka dot from Ruby by Bonnie & Camille for my background.
I could use an entire bolt of this grey dot. Love it!
This is what I made. I may have to finish it up for perfect Father’s Day gift for my X Cajun man.
Yes the header said I am giving away a book.
Leave a comment on my blog and Kathy will be using a
random generator to pick a winner each day.
Each winner will be receiving a book and ruler which will
be shipped at the end of the blog tour.
Tomorrow visit Vickie at Sugar Spun quilts to see her favorite
project and get another chance to win!
A Cajun gal told me there will be a grand prize also drawn for at the end of the book tour.
If Kathy share more of her recipes, beware! Have you ever had aligator? It tastes like chicken.

My husband worked for a year in Cajun Country and he had a hard time understanding some of the people at first. What he found out though, is that they are the nicest, friendliest people ever. If only they could do something about the heat and humiditiy there! This book and ruler look great! Thanks for the chance to win.

Have you watched Swamp People on the History Channel? As a Cajun, married to a Cajun, now living in Atlanta, we Love watching Swamp People. They use sub-titles when the fellows are speaking English:) Thanks for the temptation on the two new Moda lines! Hometown caught my attention. Take care!
I actually have had alligator with Cajun sauce! And it was good!!
I love the Hometown Fabrics on your quilt. They look so vibrant.
Ruby and Hometown are my absolute favorites – can't wait to get my hands on some! That hometown is perfect in that quilt.

This Louisiana native loves to use pre-cut strips, so this book will be a great resource! (I also like fried gator.)
Love your quilt! Hope to get my hands on this book and ruler soon! So many ideas swirling in my head 🙂
Wonderful book, would love to win it and the ruler!

The more I see stuff about this book, the more I want. Thanks for sharing!
Hometown is a good choice for a "manly" quilt.
Chomping at the bit to have this book and the ruler, of course 🙂
This book and ruler look terrific. Thanks for the chance to win.
Mary
Am patiently waiting for Hometown fabric to come out. That book looks inspiring!
Love that block and it's great in Hometown. Lucky X Cajun man!
You made wonderful selections of fabric for your quilt. It will be delightful! I would love to be entered into your drawing for the book. Thank you 🙂
I've heard that alligator-chicken taste like before — not sure I believe it. I haven't seen a quilt in this book yet, that I haven't liked — and the grey dot is a wonderful background — I'm going to keep my eye out for it.

You absolutely crack me up! Everyone on this blog tour has been fun. I've seen a prevalence of quilts using a similar gray background and am thinking I need to add it to my repetoire! If I win this book (which I really, really want!) I'll do that! Thanks for the giveaway!
What a fun book. I've never had alligator, but my hubby has–I'll pass!
Karen in Breezy Point
I would love a book of this type. Thank you for the chance.
Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the book and ruler! Really enjoying this blog hop.
Never had alligator, but I would try it. But what I really want to try out is this book. I like everything I have seen from the blogs so far! Thanks for the giveaway.
OH MY GOSH! THANK YOU!!!!!! You just explained my own problem in not being able to pick my favorite EVER no matter what I was trying to decide about. LOL *I* am also a middle child.
And YEP, I have had alligator at a local bar that served 'different' non-midwestern traidional foods. It was actually pretty good stuff. Where I'd ever buy any if she did give us a recipe for 'gator, I have no idea. lol
Oh wait……we were talking about a book here weren't we. I love all I have seen so far about this book. The blocks shown so far during this blog tour are just beautiful. After yesterdays' stop, with her saying how distracted she was and still created a great looking block, that just sold me even more because I'm not a very experienced quilter. I figure if she can do it with all those distractions, then surely I can as well.
OOH! A double hourglass is on my list of quilts to make this year! Love your choice! Looks like an incredible book and what a nice giveaway!
