Oh Scrap- Melissa Corey

Kismet by Melissa Corry

Melissa is not new to the publishing world and is a very prolific pattern designer also. I recently talked about what a role Barbara Brackman played n my book but I wanted to also share what Melissa did. I am a firm believer in learning through other people’s eyes and so my original game plan was to have some friends make some color options. While several of them wanted to I didn’t really want to ask them to spend the time and the money to do this. Melissa didn’t listen to me and I am thrilled that she didn’t. Her quilt is so bright and beautiful and was photographed in a garden setting that just makes the textures pop.

I named the quilt Kismet. The reason for this was I had made this quilt, submitted the instructions and crossed it off my list. Then when it cam time to send in all the quilts, I could not find my version of the quilt anywhere. Now remember some of these quilts were done during my recovery, and I also gave quilts to some of my care givers. I can’t imagine what happened to my original quilt other than I let someone pick a quilt without even thinking that I still needed this quilt. Regardless, the quilt is in good hands and Melissa’s quilt is Kismet. It took front stage and filled a huge hole for me.

Melissa tends to be the person who fills a void and is always willing to jump in and help. Thank you for that.
