Quilt fabric De-Stash day 3

The giveaway is closed and the winner has been notified.

I wonder if there is a psychologist out there that studies a

quilter’s fabric buying tendencies.
Or well maybe I don’t want to know the
results of such a study.
I do know I have a mad, crazy addiction to background fabrics.
I love scrappy quilts and the more backgrounds
I can use the happier I am.
Many years ago during one of our moves,
I had all my fabrics
in assorted black plastic bags.
Once the move happened and I was ever so neatly
arranging my fabrics on bookcases, I had no lights.
EGADS! All my light fabrics had been
 mysteriously taken to Goodwill,
supposedly!
Even though the disappearing black plastic bag
has tormented me for years I have
amassed quite a collection of lights.
So keeping my promise to de-stash what will not fit,
I will have several bundles of
giveaways that will be backgrounds throughout
the rest of the month.
Here’s the low down.
To celebrate National Sewing Month,
I am going to have a Giveaway on my blog
every WEEK DAY.
It is going to be quick and simple.
I will announce the winner and the next giveaway
every weekday morning at 6:00 am central time.

Today’s giveaway is an assortment of
100%, first quality whites, cremes and tans. Some fat quarters
but mainly hunks of yardage.
None of them have been pre-washed.
They need a good home.
It will be a random drawing and  I will ship at the end of each week.
I will consolidate shipments if you win more than once.
I am only going to be able to ship in the contiguous 48 states
and I must be able to contact you via e-mail.

AND the winner of Sept. 5th’s giveaway is…Blogger

Love brown. My living room is done in shades of brown
thanks to a wall papered in old book pages. I think it needs a brown
quilt to be completely happy. 🙂 Thanks for the chance!

As a new quilter, my stash is extremely "light" on light-colored fabrics. I need more contrast in my life and in my quilts. That stack would definitely help "lighten" my heart.

    Sorry, couldn't resist the punnies…. :o)

I love background fabrics too, but somehow it's the big bold focus prints that always seem to end up in my cart. I could definitely use some backgrounds, and those are gorgeous!

Some quilter probably fainted at the Goodwill store when that fabric of yours was put out for sale! Maybe it won't haunt you as much thinking that someone made some beautiful quilts or much needed clothes with your black bag of happiness! 🙂

So sorry to hear about your "Goodwill" mishap. My sister did the same thing, she gathered up clothes for Goodwill and discovered later that months later she had also gathered up a Halloween quilt that I had made for her. Opps. You can never have enough background fabrics!! Good luck with your destashing.

Oh NO, I'd never put my stash in garbage bags. That would be way too confusing for my DH, he'd throw them away for sure. On one move I sent him back for the last load and he burned all my Craft Magazines. He still hasn't lived that one down.

Lovely backgrounds indeed! I have begin such a stash as well. I used to buy as needed but 'having on hand' living out as far a we do works much better!!! Besides that sounds better than stash or hoarding…having fabric on hand….;-)haha!

One woman's stash is another woman's treasure.

I would use the lights for scrap quilts too. Thanks so much for the chance to win them! Yvonne

I started learning to quilt a couple of months ago, and I am in LOVE. My husband even helped me turn our spare room into a craft room for my very slow growing stash. I have some great ideas for a the jelly rolls I've gotten so far, but no stash of background fabrics to pull from. I would absolutely appreciate a chance to win such a generous and amazing treasure as you've got going on today. Thank you so very much!

Oh the unknown! My house flooded about six years ago and I know there were things that got misplaced, thrown out, or lost but it happens and what do you do?!
I love a good background too!

I try to limit my stash to just one dresser, so I frequently make scrap quilts. I'm currently making a scrappy nine patch, so your selection would fit in well.

  11. Linda Fleming says:

Thank you for your give-away. You are too generous!
I'd just love a selection of lights. I'm working on a large, scrappy, value quilt just now and realize I'm needing lots more lights.

  12. Lisa Rogers says:

How generous of you. My new southwestern home being built would look unbelievable and cozy with a quilt in the great room made with those colors. How great would that look. The sandstone outside blends so well with these colors. Then all I would need is a pop of color. I'm sold.
