You know the old saying…..
“I believe that everything happens for a reason. – Marilyn Monroe
Well that is the truth,
so let me tell you a story.
I have desperately needed new floor in my sewing room.
Let me just say high traffic area and 3 sets of puppies.
I have been patiently waiting for the floor and
they called to tell me it was going to be installed on a
Thursday and Friday.
As luck would have it,
this was the Thursday and Friday before I was to
move child #5 to his college apartment.
So not only was the apartment staging area happening
in my living room but the
entire sewing room had to be emptied by Wednesday night.
That is part 1 of the story.
Part 2, the other day a friend of mine came to me and said,
” This is going to be us.”
She then showed me a picture of a quilter’s estate sale.
Tables and tables full of fabric treasures. This quilter was a longtime quilt shop owner.
She has acquired 3 yards of every fabric to be able to use when she retired.
( we have all said that, right?)
So the past week or so I have been trying to put my house back together.
( I forgot to mention that the sewing room has also been the revolving bedroom for kids moving in and out and I had a stash of fabrics in another room)
So the another infamous saying is,
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Prov. Something that one person considers worthless may be
I am going to be sharing my treasures with you.
I don’t consider this worthless, actually
I hope they will be priceless to the right person.
My son kept me honest and didn’t let me sneak any
more fabric into my sewing room.
To celebrate National Sewing Month,
I am going to have a Giveaway on my blog
every WEEK DAY.
It is going to be quick and simple.
I will announce the winner and the next giveaway
It will be a random drawing and I will ship at the end of each week.
I will consolidate shipments if you win more than once.
I am only going to be able to ship in the contiguous 48 states
and I must be able to contact you via e-mail.
SO EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON.
And the reason is I don’t have any more room.
Today’s giveaway is an assortment of over
50 layer cakes (10″ fabric squares)
Lots of reds in this collection of assorted layer cakes.
They are from assorted fabric groups.
None of them have been pre-washed.
They need a good home.
Leave a comment and let me know you can put these fabrics to good use.
I will draw a name and post Day 2’s giveaway at 6:00 in the morning.
Layer cakes are just the perfect precut for me. You can do just about anything with them, and have a terrific project using a fabric line you may not want to invest in to buy a full bundle.
layer cakes are the best, they are just so versatile. This is such a beautiful group of fall layer cakes, they would make a wonderful throw.
Red is my favorite color, but I have almost NONE in my stash! I wish I could have a layer cake assortment with lots of red!
OOh, I would love to win these. I'd make my first Christmas quilt ever. I've been wanting to make one for a long time but just haven't done it yet. Thanks for offering this giveaway!

It's national sewing month right? We are all excited that the kids are back in school and we can sew uninterrupted!
So send some cake on over. Deliver them in person and I'll give you a garden tour. 🙂 I'm just on the other side of town.
I love layer cakes! They would make some fabulous scrappy Dresden Plate variations!
Love Layer Cake squares. We have had some rather unfortunate strains on the finances lately so I am going totally scrappy as I go into holiday prep mode.Would love the added variety. Thanks so much for the chance !! 🙂
Wow – how generous!! I love layer cakes and thank you for a change to win this giveaway. I have oh so many projects they would work in but on an extremely limited budget don't know when they will get started. This would be a great win.
I am in the middle of making a layer cake quilt right now! A, what I will call, modified 9 patch. Thanks!
Ohhh I would definitely do a quilt, maybe something easy like the double slice layer cake pattern!!! Thanks for the chance
Hmmmm I have been wanting to do a half square triangle quilt and those look like they would be perfect!!!
They all look scrumptious. I cut up most of my reds to make a red and cream tumbler quilt, so my reds are needing restocked but looks like all those colors coordinate well.

I bought my first charm square pack last Christmas, so fun to caress and ogle. Got my first layer cake a few months back and more caressing and ogling! Just bought the coordinating charm pack and a "nickel and dime ruler" now I'm ready to create a Christmas quilt from the "Aspen Frost" collection. Thanks for the giveaway!!
Quilts, we need more snuggle quilts at our house.

Happy September to you!
I have a couple of scrappy quilts planned – another tatw and a postage stamp quilt. I need lots of fabrics for them. I am also planning my first string quilt.
Oh my- these would make darling quilts! Thanks for the generous giveaway!
I've actually never used a layer cake, but just recently a couple of patterns that I looked at recommend using them. I'd love to get some to try.
My very favorite kind of cake, it won't end up on my hips. ;-> I just looked in my sewing room, surprisingly I don't have much in the way of red, just some JR leftovers of Ruby and a little French General. I'd love some of your trash I would treasure it. Thanks for being so generous. ;->
I'd love to help out!
I would so love to win these. I am helping my sister learn to quilt and these would be great to share. I love precuts. Thanks for sharing!
