Hello, If you are following along on the Precut Primer blog hop, then congratulations you have made it to the 12th grade!!
This book is chalk full of projects using Moda precuts. It does not take an MBA or a PHD to be able to make one for your favorite scholar. You will learn something new throughout beginning with page 5, full of tips from Barb and Mary of Me and My Sister Designs.
Did you know? Hold a white piece of paper behind your needle as you thread it. The paper makes it easier to see the needle.
Quilt made by Sarah Huechteman.
That is me, center row of EVERY group picture ever taken. Thank goodness Lori Chrisman and Leah Pender were always there with me!
I had a massive crush on the second guy on the first row, Kent Ferguson, which probably explains my height issues.
When asked if I would be a part of this hop, I knew just what I would do. Number 2 son is a high school teacher and coach, so I knew this would be a great opportunity to make a quilt for his school. School colors are green and gold, so the Varsity collection from Sweetwater was perfect. He has always been passionate about working with kids and will be a wonderful influence on the kids he comes in contact with.
Excuse me for a minute, while I reminiscence about a few of my teachers.
Mrs. Barney, my second grade teacher, was the first person on my doorstep when my father passed away. I was grown and married, but she found where I lived and came to visit me so many years later.
Mrs. Pasierb, my third grade teacher, was a brunette walking barbie. All the boys drooled as she walked by. This by no means is an insult. She was beautiful, smart and sweet.
Miss Resenta, my fourth grade teacher, whom I probably tested the most. Yes, I was a little hellion that year. She got married during the holiday break and became Mrs. Williams. I thought that was the coolest thing ever. She had to be one of my favorite for many reasons, including that she had a wonderful deep laugh that brighten the room.
Mrs. PIttman, fifth grade as shown above, had the coolest collection of polyester jumpsuits!
The list goes on and on!
My kids went to the same elementary, junior high and high schools that I did. Many of my teachers were their teachers, so I know first hand how much a teacher can influence your life for many years to come.
I am formally apologizing to all my teachers for any headaches I may have caused or my children may have caused.

I have enjoyed the hop and seeing all the quilts. It looks like a great collection of quilts and I plan on buying the book. Thanks!
I love your quilt. One of my favorite teachers was Mrs. Beattie, 5th grade. She was so beautiful and elegant, I loved to listen to her speak.
My 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Brandt, was really creative. She was great!
Loved hearing all your school memories. I’m really enjoying the precut primer blog hop and seeing all the beautiful quilts made from this great book. My favorite teacher was a Mr. Hardy, Grade 6. I was extremely shy and he boosted my self confidence. I was even chosen to ring the bell that year (it was still done manually!!!) What an honor and privilege (for me). He just had a wonderful way of understanding his students. Thank you for this great giveaway chance!
What a wonderful story.
Mrs Williams 3rd grade. She taught me to love the library
I remember my second grade teacher, Mrs. Randolph, with delight. I loved school and liked the creativity she brought into our classroom. I can remember vividly some of the art projects we did.
My favorite teacher was Mrs Johnson in Fourth grade. She was so kind to all the students. She made learning fun.
Ms. Smyth, my English teacher and Mr. Frost, my Latin teacher, both in 9th grade. These two pushed me to want to do excellent work while making their subjects fun and creative. Both instilled a love of poetry in me, for which I can’t thank them enough.
My favorite teacher was Sister Mary Ursulita 7th grade. It was my 3 rd school in 3 yrs and oh so unhappy and awkward. She made sure I got into the choir and assigned a few other classroom roles so I would fit in from the beginning. The rest of the year Sister made sure I knew how many opportunities were there to be had if I looked around and was willing to take a risk. A wonderful mentor for a young girl and I think of her so often.
Mr Wagner, 11th grade AP US History. he was fun and treated us like adults and did everything he could to prepare us for the AP test. It was hard work, but my favorite class!
I just ordered my book over the weekend! Thanks for sharing your beautiful quilt 🙂 My favorite teacher was definitely my first grade teacher Mrs. Varnum – I remember her gentle kindness!
Lissa – The 12th Grade quilt is awesome – I especially love all the great spaces for free motion quilting. Your school quilt will be a hit — love those colors!! I really enjoyed your teacher reminiscing – thanks for that…

I have several favorites myself — but the one that wins is Mrs. Koehler – our High School typing teacher. She taught my Mom to type and all my Aunts and Uncles along with my sister that is 9 years my elder — and retired a few years after I graduated. She was a hoot — had the tiny little reading glasses on the tip of her nose with a beaded chain attached… She always encouraged but strict. Where would I be without those typing classes now ?
My kids think it is hilarious that we had typing classes.
i loved my team of 8th grade teachers – Ms. Branch, Ms, English, Mr. Walsh and Ms. Altman. They are one of the reasons I became a middle school teacher!
My favorite was a high school math teacher who really challenged me (and others) to work ahead and cover more ground if we were interested.
I love your quilt!
Sister Ann Gabriel, my 5th/6th grade teacher was amazing. She helped me thru
awful events then .
Loved, loved, loved my High School French Teacher!! I learned so much in her class, but she also became a good friend. She taught us so well that when I left high school I was fluent and able to move on to a more advanced setting with native speakers in college. She even took the time to attend my wedding. She is definitely the benchmark for outstanding teachers in my book!
Love this quilt and your fabrics!
very impressive.
My 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Clark was my favorite. My Dad was career Air Force, so we moved a lot & it was always hard for me to start at a new school, but Mrs. Clark always made me feel special & a part of things.
My favorite teacher was Miss Tritz, my toying teacher in the 7th grade. She always made our class fun with different games she used to help us learn the placement of the keys. This has been a great hop and this book is definitely on my wish list.
Miss Degenhart, 4th grade, has to be one of the most memorable. It was the year of cursive!! And through her teaching and reward system, I developed a handwriting style that receives compliments to this day….many years later. Thanks for the blog hop and the chance in the giveaway.
my favorite teacher was Miss Anderson, one of my 7th grade teachers. She was so patient and kind and a very classy young teacher.
I had many really good teachers. One of my favorites was a math teacher, Mr. Guy Beasley, in high school. I had him for Geometry, Trigonometry, and PreCalculus. He taught me that it was ok to be a smart girl, never give up, it’s good to be kind, and so many other things. And the funny thing – math is not my favorite subject and even if my basic math skills are not the best, I was really good at calculus. Geometry not so much.
My favorite teacher was Mr. Lebinon, my high school calculus teacher. He was an awesome teacher who could break down complex math formulas and really cared about the students.
Mrs. Massey was my high school English teacher. She i-n-v-o-l-v-e-d us in the classics we read and made them have contemporary relevance to us. She inspired us, kept old fashioned language from being obtuse and boring and made us think!
Sister Bertrand made Latin come alive for me. What I learned from her has served me well for 50± years!
My thanks to all the wonderful teachers in the world!
My grade one teacher was my favorite, she took my fears away.
thanks for sharing your stunning quilt.
My favorite teacher was my first grade teacher, Mrs. Heaton. She opened my eyes to learning and teaching me to read, which I LOVE to do to this day.
Would love to win.
I love the quilt- there are so many in this book I can see myself making! My favorite teacher was Mrs Vogt in 1st grade- sweetest lady ever!!
One of my favorites was my high school biology teacher. She was so good! Loved this hop.
Probably my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Green. She taught me cursive handwriting and I was mesmerized with her beautiful handwriting. I wanted to write just like she did and as a result, I do have pretty good handwriting. I even went on to take calligraphy in later years just for the fun of it. Surprising how much I have used that skill.
My first grade teacher was Mrs. Gardner. She was very sweet. I remember lots of coloring.
My ninth grade history teacher who made everything interesting and challenging. Always had a unique view of thing and taught us all how to think and evaluate the past as well as current events.
Mrs. Matthews was my 7th grade English teacher. She was fun and spunky and somehow figured out how to bring shy, timid little me out of my shell. 🙂
My junior high English teacher…somehow we all looked forward to book reports!
My third grad teacher, Mrs. Marinelli, was by far my favorite teacher. She brought out the best in each student, was kind and was gentle and I am happy to say we remained friends after third grade.
P.S. I love your quilt, what a wonderfully thoughtful gift.
One of my favorite teachers was my 5th grade teacher Mr. Fey. He was interesting, kind, smart, funny, and inspiring, and it was those glorious days before the horror of middle school LOL! Thanks for the chance at the giveaway.
Well, my favorite teacher was Mr. Tkac…fresh out of the air force and teaching to all girls in a catholic school. Must have been pretty brave or pretty desperate. But I had him for algebra and I learned so much….went on to major in math in college. And he was kind to all of us.
My favourite teacher was Miss Winters in grade 3. She made everyone feel special!
My history teacher, Mr Jones, was my favorite. He was always fun, his lessons were interactive and he was considered to be “cool” xx
Mrs Blaser. Always encouraging and pushed us to do our best!
Your apology to your teachers gave me a giggle. My favorite teacher was Mr. Roman 3rd grade. He was patient and kind. I am now 51 and I still recall him. Love your quilt and the fabrics choices. Thank you for the inspiration.
My fourth grade teacher, Mrs Davis. This book really does look like all the projects are good.
One favorite teacher was my high school physics teacher, Mr. Jones. He had a big impact on the direction my life took, and it’s been a pretty good life! He encouraged me to study engineering which led me to a university I hadn’t previously considered, which is where I met a cute boy who became my husband, which is how I got a wonderful son and a lovely life. Thanks Mr. Jones!
I had so many really wonderful, creative, loving teachers it is hard to single out just one. But I will mention one of my favorites was Mr. DuVal, for a very unexpected reason. He was very strict with us, and had very high expectations for us, both scholastically and for our personal conduct. When we met those expectations, we really felt a sense of pride. I appreciate that now–then I just knew I was very glad to be in his class, although I had felt a sense of anxiety when I read that I was assigned to him.
Ms Farlan in 7th and 8th grade. She was just special! And she taught us Greek root words that I still use all the time.
My favorite teacher was Mr. Lebrun. He encouraged me to go o college when I was considering other possibilities. Thank you for your encouragement.
My favorite teacher was my eighth grade teacher, Sister Canice (rhymes with Denise). She was old as the hills, or so she seemed to a 14 year old. But she read aloud to us and we loved it. And she would tell the corniest jokes.
My favorite teacher was Mrs. Atzert for Biology. I loved the subject and everything concerning nature and her hands-on approach. Thank you and good luck with your Varsity quilt!
Mr Zasky, 6th grade, he was my first male teacher.
My favorite teacher was my mother, who taught me 3rd through 12th grade.
I had a ADHD, but in the 70’s the teachers didn’t know how to teach children like me. I was a difficult student and most years I knew my teachers didn’t like me. But in the 3rd grade I had Mrs. Oberschmidt who treated me with respect. I would do anything to please her. I don’t have a lot of fond memories of elementary school, but I do remember how she made me feel special and smart.
Mr. Levitt, for his patience and wit.
