9-11 fabric giveaway

The giveaway is closed and the winner has been notified.
This one is a tough one to give away,
but
I thought what better day than 9-11
 to post these
classic reds and blues as the giveaway.
Just in case you are just joining me,
read the full info of the giveaway here.
When I was bundling fabrics for this month long giveaway,
I grabbed this stack and tied a string around it.
Done!
Last night I thought those fabrics don’t really
look like that great of a giveaway.
How sick is that?
That I want each of the giveaways to be
impressive. Something you will really want !
So I opened these up to take a picture.
To my surprise, each of the 14 pieces is 3/4 to 1 yd.
Awesome!
When it comes to fabric lines,
especially Moda fabric I have a
pretty good memory on what designer did what.
This one threw me for a loop?
Do you know who did this?
KANSAS TROUBLES
What was the fabric line?

SIMPLY INDIGO
Impressive, right?
I am the biggest red white and blue fan out there.
I love sharing this fabric with you, so
Follow my blog
and
tomorrow morning, 6:00 AM central time I will post the winner.
The winner of the Bonnie and Camille scrap bag is:

Need some Bonnie and Camille scraps?

The giveaway is closed and the winner has been notified.
I am having so much fun De-Stashing.
(is that really a word?)
Knowing that these fabrics are going to
good homes makes me happy,
because they have been
neglected at my house!
I am sure you all know that I am a
huge fan
of everything
So today’s de stash is bag of fabrics
from some of their past collections.

A variety of prints and yardages.
There may be a few other fabrics in the
bag that are also aqua, grey or red,
but 90% Bonnie and Camille.
Will post the random winner
tomorrow morning 6:00 AM.

Hmm, sounds devine…perfect for fall. I have been sneaking in
some civil war creams in with my modern low volume mixes and they go so
well. THanks for the chance.

Quilt fabric De-Stash day 3

The giveaway is closed and the winner has been notified.

I wonder if there is a psychologist out there that studies a

quilter’s fabric buying tendencies.
Or well maybe I don’t want to know the
results of such a study.
I do know I have a mad, crazy addiction to background fabrics.
I love scrappy quilts and the more backgrounds
I can use the happier I am.
Many years ago during one of our moves,
I had all my fabrics
in assorted black plastic bags.
Once the move happened and I was ever so neatly
arranging my fabrics on bookcases, I had no lights.
EGADS! All my light fabrics had been
 mysteriously taken to Goodwill,
supposedly!
Even though the disappearing black plastic bag
has tormented me for years I have
amassed quite a collection of lights.
So keeping my promise to de-stash what will not fit,
I will have several bundles of
giveaways that will be backgrounds throughout
the rest of the month.
Here’s the low down.
To celebrate National Sewing Month,
I am going to have a Giveaway on my blog
every WEEK DAY.
It is going to be quick and simple.

but mainly hunks of yardage.
None of them have been pre-washed.
They need a good home.

I will consolidate shipments if you win more than once.
I am only going to be able to ship in the contiguous 48 states

Today’s giveaway is an assortment of
100%, first quality brown fabrics
None of them have been pre-washed.
They need a good home.

Never too many browns!!. The pile does not look impressive
but it is 8-10 yards of browns, carmels and other yummies.
Assorted yardages that will fit right at home for the right quilter.
There were a few of these I really wanted to keep
 but I hope the winner
loves Brown as much as I do.

Quilt Fabric Giveaway

The giveaway is closed and the winner has been notified.

  You know the old saying…..

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. – Marilyn Monroe

Well that is the truth,
so let me tell you a story.
I have desperately needed new floor in my sewing room.
Let me just say high traffic area and 3 sets of puppies.
I have been patiently waiting for the floor and
they called to tell me it was going to be installed on a
Thursday and Friday.
As luck would have it,
this was the Thursday and Friday before I was to
move child #5 to his college apartment.
So not only was the apartment staging area happening
in my living room but the
entire sewing room had to be emptied by Wednesday night.
That is part 1 of the story.
Part 2, the other day a friend of mine came to me and said,
” This is going to be us.”
She then showed me a picture of a quilter’s estate sale.
Tables and tables full of fabric treasures. This quilter was a longtime quilt shop owner.
She has acquired 3 yards of every fabric to be able to use when she retired.
( we have all said that, right?)
So the past week or so I have been trying to put my house back together.
I vowed not to put anything back in my sewing room that there was not room for.
( I forgot to mention that the sewing room has also been the revolving bedroom for kids moving in and out and I had a stash of fabrics in another room)
So the another infamous saying is,
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Prov. Something that one person considers worthless may be
considered valuable by someone else.
I am going to be sharing my treasures with you.
I don’t consider this worthless, actually
I hope they will be priceless to the right person.
My son kept me honest and didn’t let me sneak any
more fabric into my sewing room.
To celebrate National Sewing Month,
I am going to have a Giveaway on my blog
every WEEK DAY.
It is going to be quick and simple.

SO EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON.
And the reason is I don’t have any more room.
Today’s giveaway is an assortment of over
50 layer cakes (10″ fabric squares)
Lots of reds in this collection of assorted layer cakes.
They are from assorted fabric groups.
None of them have been pre-washed.
They need a good home.
Leave a comment and let me know you can put these fabrics to good use.
I will draw a name and post Day 2’s giveaway at 6:00 in the morning.

Million Pillowcase Challenge

image from million pillowcase challenge
Did you know that in the US alone there are over
800,000 children in foster care?
Many of these children move from place to place with
very little
and certainly nothing to carry their
few belongings in.
Just imagine if each child had a fun pillowcase.
This is one of the main reasons I have participated
in the
Million Pillowcase Challenge since the beginning.

Recently All People Quilt issued a challenge to vote
on your favorite
 FREE pillowcase pattern.
I guess it is fitting that the train pillowcase won.
There seems to be an inspiring comparison between
 the winning pillowcase
 and the Million Pillowcase Challenge.
So, I have taken the liberty to give this pattern a new name,
the little engine that could.
That’s perfect, right?

APQ’s little engine has made it up the hill
to the half million mark.
Now is the time for everyone to throw some
coal in the engine and help.
So, today is the day many people are posting
their version of the train pillowcase pattern and
donating it to a local charity.
Here is my pillowcase.
The sample yardage from Arrin Turnmire’s, Little Things Organic
had arrived and I was dying to sew with the organic cotton.
I choose a fun striped print for the body of the pillowcase and then pulled
pieces from my scraps to make the train parts.
I must say, sewing on the organic was dreamy.
You can make your own version of the train or any pillowcase.
To download the train pillowcase pattern, click here. Lots more free patterns
 are available  at AllPeopleQuilt.com
Visit here to see the other pillowcase posts.

Here is a message from Senior Editor, Jennifer Keltner
asking for your help
in meeting their goal of One Million Pillowcases.

Won’t you please make a few pillowcases
and donate them to a local charity?
Here is a complete list of charities
if you
are looking for places to donate.
