Inspiration

Where do you find your inspiration?
In September at the Creative Connection, I attended a luncheon where
Ree Drummond was the speaker. She told a story of when she first started blogging.
She created the blog to keep her mom up to date with the kids.
A few days later she received a comment. Ree said, “Mom, is that you?”
She started the blog because she loves doing it, not for the qty of comments
or readers. That all just happened on it’s own.
Ree was incredibly inspirational and she does what she loves every day.
This is a woman that is famous and probably does not even know it.
Pioneer Woman has over thousands of followers,
so a few more people than just her mom are keeping up with the kids.
I have (had) some what of an identity crisis when it comes to my blog.
Unlike Ree, I do not blog for my mom to keep up with the kids. She calls me and tells
me she cannot get this “rat” to work.
“Mom, it is a mouse, not a rat!”
So she is not going to be sitting at the computer much.
I struggle with who would want to read what I have to say. I can’t spell. I write like I talk which ultimately creates run on sentences. Ree told us that if she doesn’t have anything to say,
she takes a picture of her pantry and blogs about it.
She takes a picture of a shirt that has been in her closet forever that
she never wears. Just go out and do it!
Another person was at Creative Connection that shall remain
nameless
was a huge inspiration to me. I like to call her my personal life coach- You know who you are!
This post is a shout out to her, because I think of her every time I post.
 OTHER SOURCES OF INSPIRATION
Do you know what Flickr is? It is a photo sharing site.
Pictures can be uploaded, shared, linked and more.
Many bloggers store their pictures on Flickr and upload the pictures to their blog.
I found a cool site that searches Flickr for you.
I did a search on Moda Quilts which brought back 390 pictures.
When I searched moda quilt, (not plural) it brought back 2,631 wonderful pictures of creative work.
Need Inspiration, search for your favorite topic and leave me a comment on what you searched for. I would love to see what topic inspires you.
Do you know of other cool tools like this?
Since my personal coach (you know who you are!) has motivated me to blog more. That she actually likes hearing whatever random thing I have to say, I will have to raise the bar just because!

Thanks Coach!

Well for starters…you…you inspire me.I am just beginning to make your Granny Square quilt. The second I saw it, it told me it must be made so I took all my cooking money (from cooking for the cowboy crew this fall), went to the big city of Amarillo, and spent it on fabric and started cutting strips. I find inspiration everywhere: on the Internet, on so many blogs, in magazines, and movies, in photographs and on signs, and here on the ranch every day. In fact I once saw a beautiful quilt at a quilt inspired by a bathroom floor at a quilt show. Who knew?

  2. Seeing what so many fabulous bloggers are creating is really inspirational! I'm also inspired by sewing, quilting and knitting books, old houses and cottage interiors. And I love curling up with a cozy quilt and a cup of tea(or wine) to watch old movies. I wish I had more time to do that!

    Very neat tool!

I'm inspired by fabrics, paper, historic architecture. I searched for selvage quilt, jelly roll quilt. I think I'll visit again and search for munki munki and scrappy quilt.

    I enjoy reading your blog!

I love your blog, and am always happy to see a little number by your name in my google reader. You know, I'm inspired by the most ridiculous of things, so I'm either no help in that department, or tons of help; depending on your prespective 🙂

Just keep doing what you are doing…I think you are great!

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  5. What a great post. I love your honesty and I cannot tell you how many times I have felt these exact same feelings. I started my blog as a way to stay motivated to create and to document the journey. I can sometimes get intimidated by some of the well-known bloggers and think that i have to be like them. But then, a post like this comes along and I remember that I am blogging for me and that is enough reason to blog. Please keep up the great work!

  6. I loved reading your writing during the blog hop. In fact … that one where you talked about conversation starters that really turned into pick up lines just cracks me up and I've gone back to read it several time. You make me laugh … and you have some fabulous distracting links. All the things I look for in a great blog. Don't quit!

I love your blog! I read Pioneer Woman too and she inspired me to start my blog and then reading all you your blogs(esp those who commented above) keep me inspired.

Keep blogging when you can as we all enjoy reading!

Yes, I also need to update my blog. Family, work and house painting, etc. have gotten in the way. Though if I have to choose between family and crafting or blogging, well blogging does not win. 🙂

I love blogs like yours that touch a bit of this and a bit of that. If its totally quilty inspirational frankly I'm intimidated since I don't have time or energy to creative every day. And I never complain about folks who don't post everyday since I don't blog. I may start in 2011 but again I have to squeeze all my passions in! Love your stories and your "voice" listen to that life coach!
