my latest fabric obsession

Inspiration comes from everywhere but I am super excited about a very simple little thing.
Watch the Moda designer schoolhouse and
look at the American Jane ABC project.
She is so clever and used her ABC fabric
to create a selvedge border for her quilt.
I will start hoarding this fabric to
be able to label my quilts. How fun would it be to spell your name and
date the back of your quilt and sew it right into the backing?
Thought I would pass along the info in case you want to start hoarding also.

This fabric is from American Jane’s Potluck collection.
Shown above is the red version, Stock # 21645-12.

Sandy spelled all her fabric collections along with
creating her own Giant Selvedge borders

Don’t make me wrestle any of you for this fabric.

Thank you for helping me get my sewing room in order. It is less than
1 month until Market so I am about to dive in and tear it up again.

The best giveaway for last

Several people have asked why I was giving these fabrics away
instead of selling them.  Others have been amazed that I can part with
years worth of fabrics.
So let me explain,
I have worked for Moda fabrics for over 16 years and another
12 years working and teaching quilting.
I am obsessed about the moda designers and the fabrics they create.
I love what special people they are.
I have a huge appetite and always think know I bite off more than
I can chew, or in other words make.
I do get an employee discount so selling my scraps
for profit, feels a bit like
some sort of Wall Street insider trading.
Since I am blessed to work for a company that produces
thousands of fabrics a year,
I just thought I would share my good fortune with you along with a
big thank you
for those of you with this final giveaway.
Did I have second thoughts about this one, heck yes!
French General’s classic red and whites takes my breath away.
(is that wrong that fabric can do that?)
Do I really really want to make this?
Yes, I have wanted to make it
since it came out in June 2011.
But I haven’t so time to wrap up the month long giveaway
what I consider to be the BEST giveaway.
Please leave a comment and I will announce the winner on Monday, Sept. 30th
No giveaway will be posted on Monday.

I would love to win the yo-yos. They would be great to use as flowers on the 7 pieced doll quilts I am piecing for my 7 granddaughters for Christmas to snuggle their new baby dolls in. Thanks for the chance to win.

Pinks, Kind of

You may wonder how I decided what would be combined in each of these giveaways.
Yesterday you saw the stack of reds.
I just grabbed a hunk of reds that I thought would fit nicely in a
 priority package,
tied a ribbon around it
and considered it done.
Then I grabbed the next stack as shown above.
It should really be all pinks, however I am not the most
studious at replacing my fabrics in the
correct color family. Consider this part 2 to yesterday’s
giveaway with reds and pink fabrics.
Also stay tuned for the BEST AND LAST
GIVEAWAY TOMORROW, Sept. 27th.
Enjoy,

Red’s my favorite color as well, and my red bin’s getting a bit thin …
I’d love to add these in! Thanks for the chance.

Love reds?

Happy Wednesday!
It is one month until quilt market so I am glad this giveaway is
winding
down. I will not have even a spare moment to read all
the nice
comments that you have taken the time to
post over the past month as the hectic pace of the show grows.
So without further ado,
today’s giveaway
is my favorite color, RED.
What a classic color!
What is your favorite color?
Let me know by leaving a comment and
YES you can still win these
even if your favorite color is not red.

2 FOR Tuesday

The giveaway is closed and the winner has been notified.
Remember how I told you my pics would not be the greatest.
This first pic does look like a wad of sausages still in their plastic casings.
Gross, right?
The bag is full of shirting scraps from Primitive Gatherings collection,
Floral Gatherings Shirtings which is due in stores Nov.
I had the honor of working on this collection early for a
future magazine project. (Quilts-n-More- Spring 2014 issue)
So of course I had some scraps left and you can have them before
this collection even appears in the store.
This bag is full of assorted charm squares plus a few other pieces.
Now I really don’t intend for these two giveaways to work together.
Consider it a smorgasbord of scraps or sausages.
You know the drill, leave a comment and I
will post the winner tomorrow morning 6:00 am.
The winner from Monday’s giveaway is:
jmniffer has left a new comment on your post “Scrap builder paradise“:

Perfect fabrics for the tumbler quilt I am planning. Thanks for sharing some of your fabrics with us!

Scrap builder paradise

The giveaway is closed and the winner has been notified.
We are on the final countdown
on my little September de stash project.
Today is a sampler of fabrics from 3 sisters,
Barbara  Brackman,
 Primitive Gatherings and Blackbird Designs.
The majority of these pieces are 10″ x 10″
but the 3 sisters Christmas collection pieces are  8 x 11.
I am sure by now you know that  most
of my giveaway
pieces are not intended to be used together,
 but instead they are a
scrap
builder’s paradise.

Love polka dots…need them to make a great dresden plate quilt
that I dream about every night in my sleep. I’m exhausted because I
make the quilt every night…do you know how tiring it is to make a
quilt a night! I need to make one during my waking hours to stop these
exhausting dreams! LOL
